Planning for retirement

I will be delivering a mandarin speech at my mandarin toastmasters club meeting.

Here is the draft speech in English and Mandarin. The English version are my own words while the Mandarin version is edited with the help of my toastmaster friend, Elaine.

Be well and prosper.

Hi Teoh

Thanks for visiting my blog.

I am a member of Braddell Heights Community Club Mandarin Toastmasters Club. The club meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7.15pm at Braddell Heights CC (near Serangoon NEL MRT).

Anyone who has an interest in public speaking in mandarin can join the club by paying the fees around $160 a year and you will be given a speech manual to do your speech projects which will be evaluated.

I first joined english toastmasters about 4 years ago and it has made me a much better thinker and speaker.

A typical toastmaster meeting be it mandarin or english will have members doing their prepared speeches of typically 5-7 mins in duration. They will then be evaluated by more experienced toastmasters in an evaluation which itself is a speech of 2-3 mins duration. There are also other segments such as table-topics where you learn to speak off the cuff.

Let me know if you are interested to drop by as the next Braddell Heights Mandarin Club meeting is on 11 September 2007 at 7.15pm.

My email is rod.loh @ gmail.com

Cheers.
